Kidney Transplantation

Kidney transplantation or renal transplantation is the organ transplant of a kidney into a patient with end-stage renal disease. Kidney transplantation is typically classified as deceased-donor (formerly known as cadaveric) or living-donor transplantation depending on the source of the donor organ.

Renal transplant is the solution for End stage Renal disease (ESRD). The incidence of hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, is increasing and once not properly managed leads to ESRD. All the ESRD patients are initiated to Dialysis ( Haemodialysis /CAPD) initially and maintained till Renal Transplant surgery and patients gets back to normal life soon.

A healthy kidney from donor is transplanted in to patient to sustain normal renal function. Usually Renal Donors are relatives and when there is no suitable family donors unrelated transplant is possible.
